Allan Mujuni, aka Amooti Omubalanguzi, is a Ugandan comedian, artist, radio personality, and MC. Amooti has versatile talent he can do music, comedy, be an MC and acting.
Amooti is a comedian on the Sisimuka morning show on Beat FM and the Director of the New Amarula Family formally Amarula Family, a comedy group he started.
He gained his popularity in a hit TV comedy show Side mirror which was showing on Bukedde TV which made him a country darling in the mainstream media.
What was his name before Amooti Omubalanguzi?
The comedian says he had named himself Bugiwugi 4VC to represent 4 Voice Changer which he later dropped after getting his new name Amooti Omubalanguzi.
Early Life and Education
Amooti Omubalanguzi was born to the late Moses Bakaturahi (R.I.P) and Annet Kabatalemwa. However, he was raised by his stepfather Yowasi Kyeyune.
Amooti is the firstborn of six children.
Amooti attended St. Kizito Primary School in Mpigi and Masaka Secondary School where he completed his O’ Level education.
From Masaka Secondary School, Amooti joined Kisubi Technical Institute where he completed studies in mechanical engineering in 1997.
Work and Experience
Amooti who had a dream of becoming a bank teller ended up in the comedy industry. I always wanted to work in a bank as a teller. He admired people counting lots of money and wished it was his.
He ended up a comedian because since childhood he was naturally a funny child who loved comedy and imitating different personalities. However, Amooti realized his passion was in comedy and that’s how he ventured into comedy
Where does Amooti Omubalanguzi work?
Currently Amooti Omubalanguzi works at radio and is still active with his long comedy career spanning over 24 years
Amooti was nicknamed Boogie Woogie in 1999 because of his funny personality and in 2001, he began professional acting at little Flowers in Kampala.
At the time he worked with Omulangira Ndausi, a radio presenter at Radio Simba based in Kampala, the late Paddy Bitama who belonged to the Amarula family and Kigere.
Though, a comedian, Amooti takes his work very seriously and is a hardworking man. And when at home, he’s a different person, very responsible to his wife and children.
Amooti then argues parents to support their children’s talents. He adds that comedy in Uganda should be taken seriously and elevated to an international level.

Leisure Time
Amooti Omubalanguzi spends his free time at the beach and watching movies. He loves these two activities so much.

Family
Amooti Omubalanguzi is cohabiting with Shamim Ssekaggya for over 12 years now and together they have children.
Ssekaggya was a queen dancer in Amooti’s group, he picked interest in her which eventually turned into a serious relationship.
Ssekaggya who lived in Makerere then used to meet Amooti at Club Ecstasy in Banda, Mukono District a Kampala City neighborhood.
