Anita Annet Among (born 23 November 1973) is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer, and politician who is the current Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda (2022–2026).
She also concurrently serves as the elected member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency, the same position she held in the 10th parliament.
She was in FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she was voted as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th parliament.
Early life and Education Background
Anita Among was born on 23 November 1973 in Bukedea District and grew up from there. She attended local schools for her elementary and secondary education.
Then later, Among joined Makerere University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, in 2005.
In 2008, Among attained a Master of Business Administration from Makerere University. While in 2018, she was awarded a Bachelor of Laws Degree by Kampala International University (KIU)
Family and wife & children
Anita Among has a son fathered by Patrick Baguma Atenyi, an FDC official and currently co-habiting with Moses Magogo, former president of the Uganda Football Association (FUFA) and the MP representing Budiope East in Buyende District on the NRM ticket.
Anita Among recently introduced her new husband Moses Magogo Hassim to her Parents in a traditional marriage ceremony. She also has a son with one of Forum For Democratic Change’s (FDC’s) officials in western Uganda, Patrick Baguma Atenyi.
Career and work experience
Anita Annet Among Before politics, at Centenary Bank Uganda, one of the largest commercial banks in the country from 1998 till 2006, where she rose to the position of branch manager. She also served as a lecturer in accounting at Kampala International University. For two parliamentary election cycles in 2007 and 2011, Among lost district woman representative seats to Rose Akol from National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The longtime member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) contested as an independent in 2016 and won the seat.
In 2020, She officially joined NRM after falling out with FDC and won the Bukedea district woman MP seat in 2020 unopposed.
In the 10th Parliament, Ms Among served as the Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE).
In 2020, she joined the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and won the party primaries. In the 2021 general elections, Among was one of the few legislators who was elected unopposed to join the 11th parliament. She is one of the few most admired and influential Women in Uganda and she is dedicated her life in fighting for the rights of the most marginalized people and ensuring better service delivery in the implementation of Government Programs.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, from Makerere University, in 2005. In 2008, she was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree, also by Makerere University.
